Amazing Aces

alas A spectator takes four cards from a deck and divides them into four piles. One ace is placed on top of each pile after the deal is complete. Secretly take the four aces out of each pile and put them on top of the deck. Your spectator should take the deck and ask them to divide the cards into four piles.

It doesn’t matter if your volunteer deals with several cards in the same pile at once, but each pile must contain the last four cards (the Aces). It is helpful to use the phrase “really think about how you dealt each card” to achieve this. As your volunteer gets closer to the bottom, you can say, “really consider where you dealt each card.” You can instruct your spectator to simply deal the cards one by one into four piles if you are uncomfortable with this. After the deal is completed, ask your spectator to turn the top card from each pile over to show they have found the four Aces!

Pick a Card

cardsThis is a classic in card magic. The magician presents the cards to the spectator and requests that they make a choice. The magician then asks the spectator to take the card and return it to the deck. The magician goes through the deck and can quickly identify the card.

Separate the black and red halves of the cards before the trick starts. Note whether the spectator chooses a red or black card when he selects his card. If the spectator has selected a red card, ensure that they place their card back into the deck. If the card is a black one, it’s the opposite. It is now simple to find out the selection by simply looking through the pack.

Blind Three-Card Monte

The Queen of Hearts, two black Aces, and the Queen of Hearts are taken from the deck and placed in front of the spectator. The magician turns then to the spectator and asks them to consider any of the three cards. The magician can then tell which card the spectator is thinking about by looking at each card. Once this is done, turn your back and examine the three cards face-down.

You will now instruct the spectator to combine all three cards at the table. Follow the card at the center. After the spectator has finished shuffle, look at the card that you have followed. If you are looking at the Queen of Hearts card, then their mental selection is the Queen. If you’re looking at the Ace of Spades, their mental selection would be the Ace of Clubs. If you are looking at the Ace of Clubs, their mental selection would be the Ace of Spades. You can reveal their thoughts and they will be guessing for days.
